Will it drain my battery?

Bluetooth Low Energy is designed for exactly this. We have not measured a percentage across a real sailing, so we do not quote one.

Bluetooth Low Energy is built for staying on all day — it is the same radio your watch and your earbuds sit on from morning to night. CruiseChattr uses it in short bursts rather than holding a connection open, which is considerably lighter than keeping WiFi or cellular hunting for a signal that is not there.

We are not going to print a percentage. We have not measured it across a full sailing on real hardware, and a made-up number is worse than no number.

If it costs you noticeably more battery than you expected, tell us. That is the measurement we are missing, and we will publish the real figure once we have it.

Did that answer it?

If not, tell us what is still wrong — that is how this page gets better.
