What CruiseChattr actually is
Messaging that works on a ship when nothing else does, by passing messages phone to phone.
Does it really work with no WiFi at all?
Yes. Bluetooth Low Energy is built into every modern phone and needs no network behind it.
How fast do messages arrive?
Seconds within Bluetooth range. Beyond that it depends on how many people are aboard running the app, and how much they move.
Who can read my messages?
Messages sent from the app are sealed between phones. A message typed into the web portal is not — and we say so rather than pretend otherwise.
Will it drain my battery?
Bluetooth Low Energy is designed for exactly this. We have not measured a percentage across a real sailing, so we do not quote one.
Is my community login the same as my app account?
Not yet. They are separate accounts today, and joining them up is planned work rather than a thing you can do now.
You forgot your community password
Use the reset link on the sign-in page. It arrives by email, lasts an hour, and works once.
Confirming your email address
A confirmed address is what lets you recover the account later. The link lasts three days.
