Account Information

When you create a CruiseChattr account, we collect the following information:

• Your display name (chosen by you; does not need to be your real name)
• Email address (used for account recovery and important service notifications)
• An optional profile photo
• Your selected cruise line, ship, and sailing dates

Message Data

CruiseChattr uses end-to-end encryption for all messages. This means:

• Messages are encrypted on your device before being sent.
• We do not have the ability to read, access, or decrypt your messages.
• Messages in transit through the Bluetooth mesh network remain encrypted at all times.
• Relay devices that forward your messages cannot access their content.
• We do not store message content on our servers. All messages remain on-device.

Bluetooth and Device Data

To enable mesh networking, the App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). We collect the following technical data:

• A randomly generated device identifier (not your hardware ID or IMEI)
• Bluetooth signal strength data for routing optimization
• Message delivery metadata (timestamps, hop counts) — not message content
• App version and operating system version for compatibility purposes

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or any data from other apps on your device.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymized, aggregated usage data to improve the Service. This may include:

• App open/close events
• Feature usage patterns (e.g., which screens you visit most)
• Crash reports and error logs
• Mesh network performance metrics (aggregate, not per-user)

This data is fully anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual users.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Connect you with other passengers on the same cruise sailing
• Facilitate group messaging between family members and sailing companions
• Optimize Bluetooth mesh routing for faster message delivery
• Send you important service notifications (e.g., app updates, security alerts)
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent abuse or violations of our Terms of Service

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share limited information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We may share anonymized technical data with service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information from our servers within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Messages are stored only on your device and the devices of your conversation participants. We do not maintain server-side copies of your messages. When you delete a message on your device, it is permanently removed from your device.

Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely for the purpose of improving the Service.

CruiseChattr is intended for use by individuals of all ages within family groups. Children under 13 may use the App under the supervision of a parent or guardian who has created the family group.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Object to or restrict the processing of your personal information
• Request portability of your personal information
• Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
