What Princess is actually like, and who it suits
Princess sits in the middle of the market and does not apologise for it. Nothing on the ship is trying to astonish you.
The strength is itineraries. Alaska in particular — Princess has been running it for decades, owns lodges inland, and the cruisetour operation is the most polished way to combine the two. If Alaska is the goal, this line is on the shortlist before you have looked at the ships.
Onboard is comfortable, slightly traditional, mid-range in the honest sense. Good production shows, decent food, an older-than-average crowd but not a HAL crowd. The Medallion wearable that unlocks your cabin and tracks your order to wherever you are sitting is better than it sounds.
Who it suits: destination-first cruisers, especially Alaska and Japan. Couples. Anyone who wants a calm ship without paying premium prices.
Who it does not: teenagers, thrill-seekers, and anyone who wants the ship itself to be the attraction.
Done an Alaska cruisetour? The land half is what people cannot find honest information about.
