What Norwegian is actually like, and who it suits
Norwegian's whole identity is Freestyle: no fixed dining time, no assigned table, no formal night you have to pack for. Turn up when you are hungry.
For a lot of people that is the single best thing about the line. For others it turns dinner into a nightly logistics problem — at peak times on a full ship you are queueing or booking ahead, which is exactly the structure Freestyle claimed to abolish.
The ships are big and busy and lean casual. Solo travellers should know NCL is the line that took studio cabins seriously: proper single-occupancy rooms with their own lounge, no single supplement. Nobody else does that at scale.
Who it suits: people who hate schedules, solo travellers, groups who want to eat at different times.
Who it does not: anyone who likes the same table and the same waiter all week.
Freestyle — liberating or a nightly queue? Genuinely split, and it depends how full the ship is.
