What Celebrity is actually like, and who it suits

Celebrity is where people go when they have outgrown the big family ships but are not ready to pay for luxury.

The pitch is grown-up: better food than the mainstream lines, a design language that actually got designed, and noticeably fewer children outside school holidays. The Edge-class ships are the most architecturally interesting things in the mainstream market — you will either love the Magic Carpet or find it silly, and both reactions are common.

Who it suits: couples, adults travelling together, anyone whose complaint about their last cruise was the noise.

Who it does not: families with young kids, anyone who wants waterslides and a ropes course, and anyone for whom price is the deciding factor. It is a real step up in cost from Carnival or Royal for the same week.

If you moved from a mainstream line to Celebrity, was it worth the difference? That is the question people are actually asking.
